Education and learning materials

Here are instructions and materials from the Ministry of General Education and Instruction, of South Sudan, for schools for the restart of education this Academic Year 2021; they are being hosted here as a temporary measure, given the urgency of the needs, until MoGEI's own website(s) are available.

Policy for school re-opening and curriculum adjustment after Covid 19 school closures.

1. When schools re-open on May 3, all learners will advance (upgrade) to the next class, and the syllabuses will be adjusted to allow learners to ‘catch up with’ parts of the syllabus they missed, and to move quickly through the 2021 syllabus.
2. Learners moving into Primary 8 and Secondary 4 will follow the old curriculum, and final examinations in 2021 will be based on this. 
3. Learners in P1 should begin with the new textbooks and curriculum for P1.
4. Learners moving into Primary 3,5 & 7  should begin with the first Chapters from P2, P4, P6, and S2. Guidance to adjust the syllabus after these Chapters will be sent to schools at the beginning of June.
5. Learners moving into Primary 2,4,& 6 and into Secondary 2 should follow the adjusted syllabus enclosed in these booklets which takes some of the units from the textbook that was appropriate to them in 2020, and some units from the textbook appropriate for 2021.    It is important for teachers to understand the reasons for the units selected to ensure the correct focus on learning by reading this booklet.
6. Teachers must be aware that missing so much schooling will cause difficulties for learners in terms of their Social and emotional development as well as 'lost learning'. Covid 19 school closures also disproportionately impacted on adolescent girls and learners with disabilities.
7. There will therefore need to be a period of re-adjustment for all learners on return to school and schools will need to be sympathetic to learners’ needs at this time.

TEXT BOOKS

The following textbooks are from the Ministry of General Education and Instruction, of South Sudan, and they are being temporarily hosted on CGA's website to facilitate teachers' and learners' access to them until MoGEI's own websites(s) are available.

The textbooks are owned by MoGEI and have been made available on a good faith basis for teachers, learners and those who support them to facilitate learning across South Sudan. No commercial reproduction of any kind is permitted. 
 
CGA is responsible only for the hosting of the textbooks to make them available to learners and teachers to support education. All design and content in the textbooks are the responsibility of MoGEI. 

CGA will submit any constructive and appropriate feedback on the textbooks to MoGEI as a temporary measure until the official feedback system is set up.
