UP2U Electronic-Voucher System CAR
UP2U is an electronic voucher system originally built by CGA Technologies for Plan International in South Sudan. This pilot project with Plan in Central African Republic uses the same system to deliver support to 240 vulnerable households in Kaga Bandoro, an extremely remote location.
As part of the system, beneficiaries receive cards which are loaded with funds or goods, which they can then use to redeem goods as and when they need them from participating traders. Traders swipe the cards on a mobile phone with 'Near-field Communication’ (NFC) scanning to take payment.
