The Girls’ Education Challenge (GEC), a 12-year UK-funded project, was launched in 2012 aimed at reaching the most marginalised girls in the world to ensure they receive an education.
Five years into the programme, CGA was contracted to lead country coordination and education monitoring of GEC in Somalia. Working closely with CARE and Relief International, we carried out quarterly monitoring visits to verify project implementation progress, review quantitative and qualitative monitoring and evaluation and to ensure GEC was meeting its learning outcome targets in over 400 schools across Somalia and Somaliland.
Output
GEC has supported 52,000 girls in 365 schools.
